Abstract: © 2018 IEEE. SERIS' monoPolyTM silicon solar cell structure incorporates polysilicon contacts at one side (monofacial), either at the rear or at the front side. In this work, we report the initial results obtained at SERIS. We report an impressive passivation result of doped poly-Si with J0 of 5 fA/cm2 using industrial tools that are high-temperature firing stable. The impact of interface oxide and doping in poly-Si to the surface passivation and transport of majority carriers is very critical. Our first pilot-line results gave a very promising cell efficiency of 21.4% on large-area (244.32 cm2) n-type wafers with screen-printed and fired contacts on both sides.
