Abstract: X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) studies are performed on semiconductive polypyridazine (PPd)-I2, PPd-2,3-dichloro-5,6,-dicyano-p-benzoquinone (DDQ), PPd-7,7,8,8-tetracyano-p-quinodimethane (TCNQ) and various PPd-halobenzoquinone complexes, prepared via the simultaneous chemical polymerization and oxidation of pyridazine by the respective acceptor. In all complexes, the XPS data suggest the presence of positively-charged pyridazinium nitrogen. For complexes involving organic acceptors, the negative charges are localized onto the function groups of the acceptors, with the charge transfer (CT) interactions proceeding further than the formation of pure molecular complex. © 1989.
