Abstract: Weathering, erosion, and deposition are the surface processes that shape the topography of the earth. Weathering is the breaking down of the upper thin layer of the solid crust by physical and chemical means. Erosion is the process of transportation of the weathered rock matter. The transported sediments accumulate in suitable environments where they settle down forming sedimentary deposits. This chapter covers the weathering processes and describes the erosional and depositional processes and erosional and depositional environments.
