Title: | Computational Studies on Cultural Variation and Heredity | Authors: | Rudi Maria Frans Anne Stouffs | Issue Date: | 2018 | Publisher: | Springer Singapore | Citation: | Rudi Maria Frans Anne Stouffs (2018). Computational Studies on Cultural Variation and Heredity. Computational Studies on Cultural Variation and Heredity : 161-174. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. https://doi.org/10.1007/978-981-10-8189-7 | Abstract: | Different explications of Stiny’s shape grammar for Chinese ice-ray lattice designs found in literature are explored and their ‘practicality’ is assessed in terms of the number of construction elements included in a representative shape rule and the number of potential matches that the matching algorithm must consider when applying this rule to a representative shape. Alternative explications are suggested that score well with respect to both measures. The exercise is meant to provide insights and requirements for the development of a general shape grammar interpreter, with flexibility and ease of use in mind. | Source Title: | Computational Studies on Cultural Variation and Heredity | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/194357 | ISBN: | 9789811081880 | DOI: | 10.1007/978-981-10-8189-7 |
