Abstract: Task allocation in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is performed to search for an optimal task schedule for WSN to perform an application. In this paper, we consider a task allocation problem for real-time WSN which aims to conserve as much energy as possible while keeping the latency experienced by the network within a specified value. A novel prediction based MinMin heuristic (P-MinMin) search algorithm is proposed. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms existing task allocation algorithms in terms of energy consumption and the capability in meeting real-time requirements demanded by WSN applications. © 2009 IEEE.
