Issue Date: | 1990 | Citation: | Turner, I.M.,Newton, A.C. (1990). The initial responses of some tropical rain forest tree seedlings to a large gap environment. Journal of Applied Ecology 27 (2) : 605-608. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | At Muka Head Field Station, Penang, Malaysia, observations were made on seedlings of Shorea macroptera (Dipterocarpaceae) and Trema tomentosa (Ulmaceae), a locally common pioneer tree. Shorea seedlings were grown in an area under a large canopy tree and received very little direct sunlight; Trema seedlings were raised beneath a single layer of neutral shade cloth in a more open site. -from Authors | Source Title: | Journal of Applied Ecology | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/99778 | ISSN: | 00218901 |
