Abstract: The Score Function Channel Router (SFCR) algorithm for 2-layer channel routing is proposed. The algorithm incorporates a simple score function to decide the best combination of wire-segment assignment for each horizontal track. It attempts to maximize the utilization of a current routing track by assigning horizontal wire segments to a partially completed route for some terminals in order to bring them closer to their corresponding terminals at the opposite side of the current routing track. The algorithm is implemented on an Apollo graphic workstation. Experimental results on seven benchmark examples show that it is efficient.
