Abstract: Teleview is an advanced, state-of-the-art videotext system which is currently being field-tested in Singapore. It is based on the Prestel view data system which has been implemented with considerable success in the UK. Although Teleview is based on Prestel, it differs from it in certain key design features. For example, Teleview uses high bandwideth television broadcast channels to transmit high-rewsolution pictures to users. Performance was one of the main concerns during the design and development phase of the Teleview system. In order to ascertain and evaluate the performance, a simulation model of Teleview was developed using PAWS simulation language. This paper presents an overview of Teleview, the modeling technology, results of the simulation study, and the benefits and knowledge gained from this exercise.
