Abstract: Structural, magnetic and transport properties of polycrystalline SrRu1-xMnxO3 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) were investigated over a temperature from 10 to 300 K. Temperature dependence of magnetic properties and electrical resistivity were measured using a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID). Low-temperature resistivity ρ undergoes dramatic changes, by nine orders of magnitude from x = 0 to x = 0.61 at 10 K. In high-temperature region, the experimental data obey variable-range hopping (VRH) model. Localized length is estimated to scale from 2.97 to 9.32 Å. The present work demonstrate that the Mn-doped SrRuO3 exhibits a transition from metallic conduction state to insulating state due to interruption of the itinerancy of Ru 4d electrons by Mn substitution. © 2007 Elsevier Ltd.
