Abstract: A resolution of the asymmetric ligand H2NCH2CH2S(O)Me, (±)-1, has been achieved by using (R)-[(acetonitrile)[1-[1-(dimethylamino)ethyl]-2-naphthalenyl](triphenyl-phosphine)]palladium(II) perchlorate as the resolving agent. The (S)- enantiomer, with [α]D -136.8 (c = 1.0, EtOH), was liberated from the less soluble diastereomeric complex by treatment with triphenylphosphine in dichloromethane. The enantiomeric purity of the amino-sulfoxide has been confirmed by NMR studies. © 1994.
