Abstract: Poly-3-octylthiophene film with ultra high tensile strength (127 MPa) and flexibility can be prepared by electrochemical synthesis in the presence of boron trifluoride-diethyl ether as supporting electrolyte on a stainless steel electrode. Experiments indicated that the current density of 0.5 mA/cm2 was the optimal electrochemical polymerization condition, and the conductivity decreased less than 15% after 30 days exposure. © 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
