Abstract: Crystal clear: Cu 2ZnSnS 4 (CZTS) is a promising light-absorbing material for solar cells. A facile noninjection route to preparing monodisperse nanocrystalline CZTS that exhibits a wurtzite-derived crystal structure is reported (see figure), and insights into the mechanism of its formation are given. In addition, a simple approach to phase-selective synthesis of CZTS by varying the organic surfactants used in the synthesis is demonstrated. Copyright © 2012 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
