Issue Date: | 1999 | Citation: | Ho, J.J.,Lee, J.C.,Chong, T.C.,Shi, L.P.,Liu, Z.J. (1999). Three-dimensional thermal modeling and analysis of near-field re-writable phase change optical disks. Proceedings of SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering 3864 : 300-302. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | The near-field recording system, which makes use of the solid immersion lens, be used for the recording of re-writable phase change optical disks is proposed. This new optical recording method is found to be very attractive for super-density optical storage. The three-dimensional thermal modeling and analyses based on the new model are performed on grooved near-field re-writable phase change disk. Based on the model, the various thermal properties of the phase change optical disk were calculated and studied. This includes the relationship between the temperature profiles, heat flow and the controlled parameters, such as disk structure, thickness of dielectric, recording and reflective layer, light spot size, power, duty cycle and disk rotation. | Source Title: | Proceedings of SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/81782 | ISSN: | 0277786X |
