Abstract: We present a simple and efficient algorithm for deformation between significantly different objects, which does not require any forms of similarity or correspondence. In our previous work, the algorithm, which is called general skin deformation, requires a complexity of O(m2 n2). In this paper, we improve the complexity from O(m2 n2) to O(m2 + n2) by proposing a simplified deformation process. This improvement greatly reduces the program running time and unnecessary topology changes. Moreover, it makes some impossible deformation with large input sets to become possible. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.
