ScholarBank@NUS Repository.||Abstract:||In this paper, we propose a novel strategy, referred to as Window-assisted Video Partitioning (WAVP), for efficiently rendering network-based multimedia services within delay constraints. To minimize the service cost and maximize the number of requests that can be successfully served under resources constraints (cache capacity and link bandwidth), our WAVP strategy partitions videos into multiple portions and delivers them by adaptive schedule windows. Based on a mathematical analysis, it is shown that the service cost can be optimized by managing video portions with the schedule windows and it can improve resource utilization to partition video streams into multiple portions. We analyze the performance under several influencing parameters such as link availability, cache capacity, delay bound and partition gradients.
