Abstract: Liquid crystal phases of binary mixtures of nonspherical molecules were studied using Monte Carlo molecular simulation based on a standard constant-pressure. The mixtures contained two types of hard Gaussian overlap (HGO) molecules. It was found that the spontaneous ordering of the long and short molecules occurred at the same pressure. The results give clear evidence of spontaneous formation of orientationally ordered phases in the systems.
