Abstract: In continuation of an investigation reported earlier on the use of precast ferrocement decks as permanent formwork as well as principal tensile reinforcement for concrete slabs, additional test data on composite slabs are presented in this paper. The major parameter of the study was the amount of reinforcement in the precast decks. Test results have indicated that the slabs can sustain substantially heavy loads without the loss of composite action. Conventional reinforced concrete theory gives good predictions of the ultimate strength and maximum deflection at service load.
