Abstract: A radio frequency sputtering technique to deposit fluorinated ethylene propylene copolymer (FEP) coatings of controllable thickness on electroactive and photoactive polymeric substrates was demonstrated. The electrical stability of the electroactive polymer, polyaniline, in water was substantially enhanced via the sputtering of a layer of FEP on the order of 10 nm thickness on its surface.
