Abstract: An analysis is given of the use of gradient-index (GRIN) lenses for laser-beam expansion in interferometry. Schematics are provided showing the refractrive-index profile of a GRIN lens that varies parabolically as a function of radius. The Refractive-index profile of GRIN lens is shown schematically in the paper as a varying parabolically as a function of the radius.
