Abstract: Air movement, temperature and humidity ratio in a crowded enclosure with simple mechanical ventilation are predicted using a three-dimensional field model. Turbulence is modeled using a k-ε formulation. A thermodynamic model to calculate the humidity ratio and a thermoregulatory model of human body to account for the sensible heat emission and the moisture release of occupants are coupled to the k-ε model. Results are useful for predicting the indoor thermal environment in building design in the tropical region.
