Abstract: Dispersion of waves guided along a perfectly electric conducting cylinder coated with two-layer lossy dielectric materials is studied in this paper. With a slight dielectric loss considered in both the substrate and the superstrate, the high-attenuation mode is much easier to be observed and anisotropic effects of the wave propagation are enhanced, as compared to that of the lossless dielectric coating. The azimuthal propagation constants, which are parameterized in terms of the layer radius, dielectric constant and coating thickness, are obtained in this paper by solving the dispersion equation. © 2007 IEEE.
