Abstract: To improve the performance of microstrip antenna array, a new configuration of microstrip series-fed tape array is designed. Compared with the traditional one, the novel antenna array has a better VSWR characteristic. Moreover, the precorrected fast Fourier transform (P-FFT) method is employed to accelerate the entire computational process to reduce significantly both the memory requirement and computational time for large arrays. Very close agreement has been obtained between calculated and measured performance of such arrays. © 2005 IEEE.
