Abstract: The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (“CITES”) is an international legal agreement to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival. CITES is regarded as one of the most important international conservation instruments. It serves to both facilitate legal, sustainable and traceable trade and to intercept illegal wildlife trade.
