Abstract: The concept of two-photon excited photodynamic therapy based on photosensitizers with aggregation-induced emission(AIE) takes advantages of high penetration depth and precision from two-photon technology, and high photosensitization efficiency in aggregate state from AIE photosensitizers. In this contribution, we review the recent progress in this field, which includes the design principles of two-photon excitable AIE photosensitizers, specific examples of AIE photosensitizers and their biomedical applications. The perspectives for the future development of this field was also discussed.
