Social relations in the work place is mediated by clothes, where it serves to present a self. The social meanings of clothes in a consumer culture is essentially signified by the process of fashion where meanings are continually being constructed. These clothes are consumed in relation to the demands of the work place. By exploring the social meanings of their clothing code, the study hopes to understand how the working woman is essentially a contingent self constructed according to the demands of the context.
