Abstract: Hotel Meridien Changi Singapore started operations in May 1985, the second hotel to do so under the Meridien flagship in Singapore. Due to the intense competition for the tourist dollar among our hotels from the addition of more hotels to our current surplus hotel stock, it is thus essential that HMCS practice diligent maintenance work in order to maintain her premises in an efficient running condition and also to achieve an attractive appearance as well. The maintenance of the Hotel is entrusted to the Engineering Department, headed by a Chief Engineer. This dissertation seeks to study the maintenance management of HMCS and the inherent difficulties faced by the Engineering Department towards achieving this end.
