Abstract: A study on the incidence of diabetes in the general population in Singapore, was carried out in conjunction with a renal survey in 1971. From the 9883 subjects who participated in the survey, 65 new diabetics were found. Another 44 were known diabetics. The incidence of diabetes among the group surveyed was 1.10% with the Indians appearing to have the highest incidence which was double that of the Chinese and 4 times that of the Malays.
