Abstract: Spontaneous laceration of the aorta is an unusual cause of flail aortic valve. We report a case of acute aortic regurgitation caused by flail aortic valve as a result of spontaneous laceration of the ascending aorta. The role of transesophageal echocardiography in the diagnosis of this condition is discussed.
