Abstract: It is shown that any symmetric/antisymmetric orthonormal multi-filter of length-4 with multiplicity 2 can be derived from an orthogonal scalar wavelet filter of length-4 or length-8, if the refinement mask of the multi-filter at the origin is diagonal with entries 1 and 0.
