One way of accessing mainframe computers is via terminals which are microcomputer based. In this respect, to interconnect the various microcomputer terminals, terminal support networks (TSNs) are one popular way especially in the university environment. This paper describes the design and implementation of a network control centre (NCC) in a typical TSN environment, which is simple to implement and which provides a symbolic access mechanism to the various resources in the TSN. The main emphasis is on the communication aspects between the NCC and the TSN. © 1988.
