Abstract: Hard- and soft-magnetic ultrafine ferrite powders (BaFe12O19, CoFe2O4 or NiFe2O4) have been successfully synthesized using a combination of coprecipitation and mechanical milling. These ultrafine powders possess excellent magnetic and structural properties. This new preparation method shows significant potential for commercial production of high-quality magnetic ferrite particles, as well as for other nonmagnetic ultrafine powders.
