Abstract: Glass formation in the lithium boroarsenate system has been established. Maximum conductivity σ = (1 ± 0.05) × 10-4 (Ω cm)-1 at 200°C has been observed for the composition 75 mol% Li2O:20 mol% B2O3:5 mol% As2O3 obtained by the twin-roller rapid quenching technique. The temperature dependence of conductivity follows an Arrhenius behaviour. The effect of adding another glass forming oxide to the binary system of Li2O:B2O3 is clearly indicated in the enhancement in conductivity, density, oxygen packing density and glass transition temperature. © 1990.
