Abstract: This work is a continuation of our earlier Raman investigation into the structural phase transitions of the Pb3(VO4)2 crystal. At 240 K the crystal transforms into the ferroelectric phase. No further signs of any structural transition are detected on cooling the crystals to 10 K. In order to study its ferroelastic phase transition, the Raman spectra of Pb3(VO4)2 have been recorded in the 293 to 405 K range. The spectra reveal that the ferroelastic phase transition occurs at 357 K and exhibits a hysteresis of 10 K. © 1989.
