Electrochemical cells have been fabricated by successively depositing a fast ion conducting Li2OP2O5Nb2O5 glass layer and a lithium metal layer on a cathode. The cathode was in the form of either a thin layer or a bulk pellet of glasses of the composition 60 V2O540 P2O5 or 60 V2O540 TeO2. Measurements on ac impedance have been carried out to determine the diffusion coefficient of lithium, DLi at several temperatures. DLi, at 25°C, calculated in the thin layer of V2O5P2O5 is 2.1 × 10-11 cm2/s and in the bulk pellet is 9.1 × 10-15 cm2/s. DLi, determined at 25°C, in the case of V2O5TeO2 is generally lower and the values are 8.6 × 10-13 cm2/s and 3.6 × 10-16 cm2/s for the thin film and the bulk pellet, respectively. © 1992.
