A Molecular-Dynamics study is performed to investigate pressure-induced structural transition in SiO2 glass up to 60 GPa. Our results show the emergence of a new SiO separation of 2.25 Å. This observation may account for the transition whereby the fourfold Si coordination changes to a sixfold one in the range 8-42 GPa. © 1993.
