dc.description.abstractA set of glasses with P2O5 and As2O3 as glass formers, Li2O as network modifier and LiCl as dopant have been investigated over a wide frequency, temperature and composition range. The highest conductivity, σdc, in undoped system was observed when the glass former ratio (P2O5:As2O3) was 30:20 and the network modifier being 50%. The values obtained for σdc at 275°C and activation energies are 2.68×10-3 ( cm)-1 and 0.64 eV respectively. The σdc value was further enhanced to 6.97×10-3 ( cm)-1 at 275°C by doping with LiCl and the resulting composition being 17.6% LiCl:41.1% Li2O:37% P2O5:4.1% As2O3. ac conductivity analysis for glasses of various compositions has been presented. Using the highly conducting glass (G-5) as solid electrolyte, lithium metal as anode and TiS2 or graphite as cathode material few cells have been characterized for battery purpose. © 1988 Elsevier Science Publishers B.V.
