We propose and implement a method to determine atomic state population distributions for atomic spin waves. Zeeman composition of single atomic spin waves of a cold atomic gas, confined in a one-dimensional optical lattice, is inferred with high precision by measurements of signalidler polarization correlations as a function of spin-wave storage time. © 2012 IOP Publishing Ltd. | Source Title: | Journal of Physics B: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/96890 | ISSN: | 09534075 | DOI: | 10.1088/0953-4075/45/12/124006 |
