The growth of napthalene crystals was analyzed to examine pattern transformation and to measure growth rate of the crystals. It was found that particle-induced kinetic roughening was due to the interaction between crystal steps and edge of solid particles which lowered two-dimensional nucleation barrier and suppresed the critical supercooling required for kinetic roughening. | Source Title: | Journal of Chemical Physics | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/96662 | ISSN: | 00219606 | DOI: | 10.1063/1.1391256 |
