A new glass-forming region has been identified in the fast-ion-conducting Li2OGeO2Nb2O5 system. The temperature and composition dependence of the conductivity are presented. High ionic conductivity values of the order of σ = 8 × 10-5 Ω-1 cm-1 at 200 °C have been measured for the composition 40Li2O40GeO220Nb2O5. Conductivity enhancement observed in this ternary system has been discussed with reference to structural details. At lower Li2O concentrations, the increase in conductivity with the addition of Nb2O5 is attributed to high Li+ ion mobility. Complex modulus analysis has been carried out to determine the conductivity relaxation time and decoupling index. © 1992.
