The recent developments in the syntheses, structures and reactivities of sulfide-bridged aggregates with the {M2S2} core (M = Pd or Pt) are discussed. The nucleophilicity of the parent {Pt2S2} core and its synthetic utility in the preparations of aggregates and clusters are emphasised. Other {M2S2} systems are also described for comparison.
