dc.description.abstract | Buried explosions in liquefiable soils generate two effects. The first is the blast pressure pulse which is known as ground shock and the second is the generation of excess pore pressure and its effects. The latter occurs over a much longer time scale and has not been widely reported. This paper presents a centrifuge model study on blast-induced pore pressure generation and liquefaction, with a focus on capturing the development of pore pressures in the soil in the intervening period between the peak pressure pulse and appearance of residual pore pressures. The results suggest that the built-up of residual pore pressures was not directly caused by the peak compressional waves. © 2014 Taylor & Francis Group. | |
