Single PS microsphere contains more than 20 β-NaYF4 nanocrystals. The microspheres emit strong NIR-to visible upconversion fluorescence upon excitation by a 980nm laser. Use of this method could be extended to synthesis of PS microspheres encapsulating other functional nanocrystals. © 2008 Springer-Verlag. | Source Title: | IFMBE Proceedings | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/88227 | ISBN: | 9783540691389 | ISSN: | 16800737 | DOI: | 10.1007/978-3-540-69139-6-23 |
