ScholarBank@NUS Repository. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.scriptamat.2005.11.077 | Abstract: | One-centimeter diameter fully glassy rods have been obtained using copper mold casting at the Cu44.25Ag14.75Zr36Ti 5 composition. Starting from the ternary glass Cu60Zr 33Ti7 with a critical size of 3 mm, our search strategy in the quaternary composition tetrahedron enabled us to obtain the 10 mm glass by testing only about 40 alloy compositions. The dramatic increase in the glass-forming ability is attributed to the effects of Ag in stabilizing the liquid. © 2006 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Ltd.
