Abstract: The solid state self-assembly of 5-alkoxyisophthalamides (1 and 2) shows monohelical structures formed through an interplay of intermolecular hydrogen bonds, interdigitation of alkyl chains, a large head-to-tail volume ratio and 1,3,5-functionalization of the central benzene ring. © The Royal Society of Chemistry 2003.
