Abstract: The miscibility of poly(1,2,2,2-tetrachloroethyl methacrylate), PTETCEMA, with various polymethacrylates, polyacrylates and polyesters was studied. PTETCEMA is miscible with polycyclohexyl methacrylate, poly(2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propylene adipate) and poly- ε-caprolactone but immiscible with other polymers studied. PTETCMA shows a narrower range of miscibility as compared with other chlorine-containing polymethacrylates such as poly(2,2-dichloroethyl methacrylate) and poly(2,2,2-trichloroethyl methacrylate). The poor miscibility of PTETCMA is attributed to the limited accessibility of the α-hydrogen of 1,2,2,2-tetrachloroethyl group. © ChemTec Publishing.
