dc.description.abstractTwo novel disc-shaped compounds (1, 2) with strong intramolecular hydrogen bonds were prepared and characterized; compound 2 showed a thermotropic mesophase as characterised by polarized optical microscopy, DSC and X-ray diffraction studies.
