Abstract: The electronic structure of chiral halomethanes was studied for the analysis of intermolecular interactions. Their photoelectron spectra contain unanmbiguously assigned bands which acts as an internal probe for such interactions. The study of the electronic structure of CHBrFI and CHClFI using HeI/HeII photoelectron spectroscopy was reported. The orbital interactions were discussed on the basis of high-level quantum chemical calculations and empirical arguments.
