At the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, National University of Singapore, a project was initiated to incorporate nonlaboratory research skills in a graduate-level course on analytical chemistry. The course was 25 lecture hours plus 15 nonlaboratory activity hours. In the end of the course, students were expected to develop a sense of appreciation and awareness of current developments in modern analytical techniques, to grasp the fundamental principles and concepts crucial to understanding modern analytical techniques, as well as to develop nonlaboratory skills relevant to research in analytical chemistry.
