Abstract: For the convenience of comparing the thermal performance of different solar collectors, it is desirable that manufacturers make use of a standard format in representing the efficiency of their collectors. Two types of solar collectors were compared: a flat plate collector and an evacuated tube collector. It was found that the evacuated tube collector performed better under high temperature and low radiation conditions, but for any solar water heating system to perform well, good plumbing is a prerequisite.
