dc.description.abstractMost industrial heating processes generate required energy by combusting hydrocarbon fuel, e.g., oil or natural gas, with air as the oxidant. In many cases, there is room to enhance the combustion process. The perovskite property can be effectively utilized to develop a high temperature adsorbent for air separation with practically infinite oxygen selectivity. A couple of promising compositions are identified, and equilibrium and kinetics of oxygen adsorption in these perovskite samples are characterized. The potential of these samples for air separation by pressure swing adsorption is examined. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 2007 AIChE Annual Meeting (Salt Lake City, UT 11/4-9/2007).
